Teachers’ Pack and Booklet for Students

In 1737 Samuel Johnson and David Garrick, both young and unknown, walked the long road from their hometown of Lichfield to London, where they both hoped to make their fortune. In celebration of Johnson’s 300th birthday this year, their walk is being recreated by a modern-day Johnson and Garrick in eighteenth-century costume.

The teachers’ pack (1,442K) is full of further information on Samuel Johnson and ideas for class activities about him, his famous Dictionary of the English Language, and life in Georgian London.

The booklet (760K) is for each student to use, and also contains information and ideas for Keystage 1 and 2 students.
