The Samuel Johnson Tercentenary Committee was set up to organise, co-ordinate and publicise events to mark the tercentenary of the birth of Samuel Johnson, and to promote interest in Johnson’s life and work.
The Committee includes representatives from:
- The Johnson Birthplace Museum, Lichfield
- Dr Johnson’s House, Gough Square, London
- The Johnson Society (Lichfield)
- The Johnson Society of London.
We have no wish to exercise any monopoly over the celebrations! We hope that many organisations and institutions worldwide will be marking the Tercentenary. We know of some, and are in contact with representatives of many museums, libraries and other institutions which are planning exhibitions, lectures, and other events.
We welcome contact from anyone involved in planning events; please let us have the details and we will do what we can to publicise them. Please send details to us at info@johnson2009.org
